UGRATARA TEMPLE OF GUWAHATI
UGRATARA TEMPLE is located in the eastern part(uzaan bazar)of Guwahati.This temple dates back to the 18th.century,in 1725 King Siva Singh established this temple.Ugratara is another form of goddess Parvati.The temple is generally identified with TIKSANA-KANTA,EKA JATA of the Buddhist pantheon.Legend says that navel of Sati is related to this temple.

ReplyDelete@Ramesh..some parts of temple were destroyed in a devastating earthquake...some portions were rebuilt by devotees.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful temple right in the centre; with lots of coconut trees in the background and tiny birds adding to the beauty of the surroundings.
