This is Hotel Mayfair Darjeeling....a hill resort which once was a summerhouse of the former Maharajah of Nazargunj.Only after few hours we got some inside information that the hill station might face an indefinite strike ....we took no chances and the next morning left Darjeeling...these are the only pictures i have of Darjeeling........Mandira and her daughters Namu-Tani,my kids proceeding towards the lobby..
This resort is very beautiful......
The lobby...they have a huge and i mean HUGE collection of art displayed all over the hotel.....
A view from just outside our rooms....
should have stayed put for few more days; seems to be place flooded with history and stories, better luck next time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful resort. I love the huge clock.
ReplyDeleteSunny :)

ReplyDeleteWow what a charming hotel...hope you had a fabulous time.
ReplyDeleteI love these quaint hotels in India. With their colonial architecture and mahogany furniture, they look classic. Somehow these modern hotels lack that personal touch.
waouuuuuuuuuuuuuh.
ReplyDeleteso jealous right now :)
very beautiful!! love the view of the room. i would love to view the artwork they display.
ReplyDeleteFunny that you wrote about a hotel, because that is what my blog entry is all about too, today!
ReplyDeleteYour hotel is absolutely stunning, Kavita!
Looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGlad your safe. awesome views. :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolute lap of luxury kavita!! I wouldnt have left that place , stayed through the strike and only then departed!! The rooms look so plush!!
ReplyDeleteThis is indeed a beautiful place. I would envy anybody who got to stay there. Price or pauper. It is so nice.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the time I went to West Palm Beach Florida to do a television series for PBS. And they set me up in a huge house in Delray Beach all by myself. And the house was filled with old master's masterpieces. The place was a winter home of a big shot in Connecticut. But I really liked living there until I got the television programs finished.
This place reminds me of that experience.
I slept under a blanket last night. This has been the coldest July ever recorded here in Ohio where we live. And it was only 59 F here this morning. August is starting out to be more of the same. I fear a climate change is on the way and each year will disrupt the lives of more birds and butterflies to say nothing about the polar bears.
Indeed, Mayfair is one of the best hotels in Darjeeling with Cedar Inn coming next. Its lovely as you have quoted. Nice pics!!
ReplyDeleteYup, great one.

Darjeeling Mayfair is awesome, I had recently visited another Mayfair group of hotels in Gangtok and have written about it - it was as lovely as the Darjeeling Mayfair. Believe Mayfair group of hotels are all lovely. Would love to visit their Goa one as well someday.
